"Every artist dips his brush in his own
soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures." |

Thank you
for visiting my watercolor website. In recently updating it, I
realize that many images shown are no longer available as originals,
nor are prints available. Because I work on commission as well as
through my website and individual showings, I have left some of
these images to portray the range of subject matter that I enjoy
painting. If there are originals and/or prints available, it will
be noted next to the image. |

As further
detailed in my biography,
I have been working with transparent watercolor since first moving
to California (from the Midwest) in the mid-1980s when my acrylics
dried so fast that I had to try something new. I loved watercolor!
It offers infinite challenges and possibilities of creating rich,
flowing color, texture and light. The very ground—the paper—glows
from beneath the color to intensify the transparent qualities of
watercolor’s wild nature. In my summers at the Laguna Beach
Art-A-Fair festival, my work ranged from California Missions to
florals and lighthouses. Some are shown on the
Missions and Florals,
and Seascapes and
Lighthouses web pages. |

While
working in downtown Riverside, California, I walked daily past the
historic buildings and courthouses, as well as the landmark historic
Riverside Mission Inn. I began painting them, and a local gallery
offered an exhibit of my work if I could complete 20 paintings of
the Mission Inn and other Riverside “local color.” This began my
years of painting Riverside’s Mission Inn, the historic 1903
Riverside Courthouse, and other landmark buildings which are
presented on the Riverside
Local Color Paintings web page. |
